Movie Night!
Please join us as we sit back and enjoy Catherine Zimmerman's movie "Urban & Suburban Meadows, Bringing Meadowscaping to Big and Small Spaces". Admission is free for everyone, and popcorn and beverages will be available (donations appreciated!).
You won't want to miss this!!
The video addresses the problems caused by the extensive planting of pesticide-ridden, non-native grass lawns across America. While it is impractical to eliminate lawn, we cannot ignore the environmental consequences of such landscape planning as ecosystems are being destroyed and replaced with chemically maintained monocultures.
Author and photographer, Catherine Zimmerman combines her expertise in photography, storytelling, environmental issues, horticulture and organic practices to offer meadowscaping as an alternative to reduce lawn. Zimmerman weaves her personal journey of changing her own landscaping choices into a guide that demonstrates both the need to change current, detrimental landscaping practices and the practical know how and resources to accomplish that change.
Doors open at 7 pm, and the movie starts at 7:30.? We are hosting a member meeting at 6:30 in the same room, and we encourage you to join us for that, too! Learn what new events Wild Ones is growing, and maybe you'll be inspired to help us organize something in the future!
