Hummingbirds
Note the date of this event has been updated to March 5, and the location has changed to The Birdfeeder on Main St. We are very excited to have such an appropriate venue for a hummingbird talk!
The Great Lakes HummerNet is a research project, initiated in Autumn 2001 by Project Director Allen Chartier. It is designed to learn more about hummingbirds in Michigan, Ohio, and northern Indiana by enlisting the help of volunteer observers throughout the region. Data is gathered through observation as well as banding studies.
This presentation will describe the research objectives of the project, tell you how you can participate, provide helpful hints on how to attract and feed hummingbirds, provide hummingbird gardening tips, and review what has been learned so far.
Allen is the Project Director for the Great Lakes HummerNet. He has been a birder since age 11 and has traveled extensively to see and photograph birds. He has authored several publications and most recently has completed A Birder's Guide to Michigan. He holds a U.S. Federal Master Permit for banding hummingbirds.
Doors open at 7 pm, and the presentation starts at 7:30.? The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this free event!
Seating will be limited, so we would greatly appreciate an RSVP, either by using the Booking option below, or sending an email to Lisa Schmaltz [email protected]. Those who have RSVP'd will be seated first!
The Birdfeeder will be open for business, and a portion of sales will be donated to Wild Ones!
