The Sentinel Tree Project - "Eyes on the Forest"
Presented by Mike Schira
Maples, hemlocks and walnuts are the highest priority for Sentinel Trees due to the threat of the Asian Longhorn Beetle which attacks maples, the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid, and the Thousand Cankers Disease of walnuts.
This a great opportunity to be a Citizen Scientist and learn about the MSU "Eyes on the Forest" project. Learn about early detection of these new invasive pests and how to be pro-active by monitoring a tree in your yard, a neighbor's yard, a city park, or a forest.
We will also have a short Member Meeting at 6:30 pm before the program. Agenda includes future programs and activities, and how to help to promote our Chapter and publicize our events.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this free North Oakland Wild Ones event. Donations are always welcome to help bring future educational opportunities! Doors open at 7:00, and the presentation starts at 7:30 pm.
