Founders? Footsteps Spring Hike: Historic Haven Hill

Join us as the Friends of Highland Rec Area (FOHRA) lead us on a tour of the old Haven Hill?Gate House and proposed native plant garden area, along with a walk through Michigan's only National Natural Landmark to spot some spring ephemerals! Check out this video for a sneak peak at this beautiful area.
Schedule
5:00: Meet and mingle at the Gatehouse (enter the park at the main Highland State Rec entrance off of M59, and park across from the park office).

5:30-6:15: Overview of the historic Ford Gatehouse , native plant demo garden, and ties with Genevieve Gillette (presented by FOHRA)

6:15-6:30: Drive down to the Goose Meadow parking lot (1st parking lot on the right, once you are on the park road).

6:30- 8: Guided hike of the Haven Hill Natural Area, a National Natural Landmark, led by FOHRA

Note that this event will take place outside, and involve walking on trails that may be muddy, rocky, and contain tree roots. Please dress accordingly. Bring water and your camera!

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this free?(other ?than the park entry fee) North Oakland Wild Ones event. Donations are always welcome to help bring future educational opportunities!

A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for entry into the park. This is NOT the same as a Metro Park sticker.
